Dr BR Ambedkar Open University Distance Education Brief Information

Dr BR Ambedkar Open University is located on a panoramic elevated site of 53.63 acres in Jubilee Hills. It offers UG, PG, Certificate, PG Diploma and Diploma courses. BRAOU got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses. Now DEC has given Regular Recognition to BRAOU from 08/04/2008 to 07/04/2013 for conducting courses.

Dr BR Ambedkar Open University, initially known as Andhra Pradesh Open University, came into being on 26th August 1982.

Courses - University offers courses in Science (B.Sc & M.Sc), Arts (B.A & M.A), Commerce (B.Com & M.Com) , Vocational (Diploma, Certificate & PG Diploma) and Professional (MBA, B.LI.Sc, M.LI.Sc, B.ed and M.ed) through distance learning. Read BRAOU Courses

Methodology - Dr. BRAOU follows a multi-media teaching-learning approach which broadly comprises self-learning print material, supported by audio, video lessons and regular broadcast of lessons through All India Radio. From November, 1999 the University started Telecast of Video lessons through Doordarshan Regional Channel.

Study Centres - It has study centres only in Andhra Pradesh. Personal Contact Programmes are held in those centres. They are in following districts of Andhra Pradesh - Adilabad, Anantapur, Kadapa, Guntur, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kurnool, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Nellore, Nizamabad, Ongole, Rajamandry, Siddipet, Srikakulam, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam, Vizianagaram, Warangal and Hyderabad.

Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit of qualifying exam. Selection for M.Ed., B.Ed and B.Ed (Special Education) will be through Entrance Test.

Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Study Centre or Website. Course fee is paid in form of demand draft in favour of “The Registrar, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University” payable at Hyderabad. Filled in Application Forms shall be submitted along with a registration fee of Rs.100/- Challan (SBH) or DD at the RCC’s/Programme centres either in person or by post on or before the last date. For MBA (Hospital & Health Care Management) applications can be obtained from the Director, AIHCM, by paying Rs. 600/- in cash/DD. Applications can also be downloaded from www.apolloihcm.ac.in
