Jamia Hamdard University is located in Delhi. It offers UG, PG Diploma and Diploma courses. Jamia Hamdard University got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses. Jamia Hamdard acquired the status of a 'Deemed to be University' in 1989 under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and in 2003 got accreditation by NAAC. It was re-accredited with Grade A in 2011. The Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (DODL) of Jamia Hamdard was established in 2004. It launched programmes in limited number of streams and majority of course are healthcare education oriented. Courses - University offers following courses BCA, B.Sc in Multimedia and Animation, BBA, Post-graduate Diploma in [(1) Bioinformatics, (2) Chemoinformatics, (3) Dietetics and Therapeutic Nutrition, (4) Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs, (5) Environmental Monitoring & Impact Assessment, (6) Intellectual Property Right, (7) Human Rights, (8) Medical Record Techniques and (9) Occupational Health Management], Diploma in [(1) 3D Animation and (2) Web Designing through distance learning.
Methodology - Enrolled students will get study material from their selected Study and Learning Resource Centres. Soft copies may also be provided. Students enrolled in DODL programmes can also avail Library Facility at university Central Library. The contact programmes shall be organized at Study and Learning Resource Centres of the University. Attendance of 60% in each programme is desirable. However, a candidate will not be eligible to appear in the session-end (annual) practical examination of a subject involving workshop/practical, if the attendance in that subject is below 60%. Assignments and Project Work will be given to the students during contact classes (if applicable). Assignments may be submitted at concerned Study Centres. Mid-term performance evaluation may be made by conducting the internal assessment of the students.
Examination - The examinations will be organized by the University at its designated Examination Centres. The medium of examination shall be English. Presently, University conducts examination only once in a year at the end of academic session. Admit Card shall be dispatched to the Study Centres 15 days before the beginning of examination.
Study Centres - It has study centres in study centres in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. Learning facility for all programmes is not offered through each Study and Learning Resource Centre (SLRC). Therefore candidate should check this information while filling the form. Selection - Admissions are open to all those who possess prescribed minimum qualification from a recognized University/Board. The admissions would be provisional, subject to verification of required documents and eligibility criteria. Admission of foreign nationals in the Open and Distance Learning Programmes will be made through the University only.
Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Study and Learning Resource Centre or Website. Course fee is paid in form of demand draft in favour of of Jamia Hamdard payable at New Delhi. The University does not allow any of its Study and Learning Resource Centres to charge more than the fee as prescribed for a course. The dully filled in application form, complete in all respects should be sent by post or submitted in person to the Office of the Director, Directorate of Open and Distance Learning, Jamia Hamdard, Hamdard Nagar, New Delhi 110062. Applicant should write his/her name, and phone or mobile number, if any on the backside of the Demand Draft.
