NLSIU is located in Bangalore. It offers PG and PG Diploma courses. NLSIU has got DEC Programme-wise Regular Recognition from 2010-11 for conducting Master of Business Laws (MBL) and PG Diploma Programmes through distance education.

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) offers academic programmes in distance education mode to enable interested candidates in expanding their legal knowledge in a globalized world. These programmes do not have age restriction.

Courses - NLSIU offers 2 year course in Master of Business Laws (MBL) and 1 year PG Diploma courses in (1) Human Rights Law, (2) Medical law and Ethics, (3) Environmental Law, (4) Intellectual Property Rights Law and (5) Child Rights and Law through distance learning.

 

Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided study material, assignments and contact programmes. Duration of Exams is 6 days (5 days for theory papers and 1 day for viva). All Laws required to be known by a business law consultant / Advisor / Officer, are included in the curriculum of MBL. The course is theoretical as well as practical oriented. Annual examination is held in June and the supplementary examination in January / February. Grading system is followed for evaluation of performance. Minimum B grade (50% marks) is required to pass a paper. A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 is necessary to complete the course.

 

Note - A candidate who is desirous of writing the examination, must submit projects, module assignments and pay the exam fees of Rs.200 per paper, at least 15 days before the commencement of the exam. Attendance in the Contact Class Programme is optional.

 

Study Centres - It has no study centre outside Bangalore. The centre is National Law School of India University, Bangalore provides contact classes for theory as well as Viva. During exam, outstation students are provided hostel accommodation, at moderate rates.

 

Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit. Any graduate in any discipline is eligible to join. At present there is no entrance test but it might be introduced.

 

Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Website. Completed form after enclosing required documents can be submitted to University in person or sent by post.
