CDE, SNDT Women’s University is located in Mumbai. The CDE is offering several certificate, diploma, degree, post-graduate courses in various disciplines to thousands of women who could not complete their education. SNDT Women’s University got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses.

S.N.D.T. Women's University was founded in 1916. Since 1979, it started distance mode courses. The CDE was established mainly to empower women through higher education.

Courses - University offers courses in (1) University Entrance Test in Arts and Commerce, (2) B.A, (3) B.Com, (4) M.A (Marathi, Hindi, English, Guajarati, History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, and Music), (5) PG Diploma (School Counseling, Human Resource Management and Early Childhood Education) and (6) Certificate (Basics of Diet Therapy and Guidance & Counseling) through distance learning.

 

Methodology - Under Academic activities, it envisages self reliant learning on the part of the student. Centre provides printed guidance materials in 14 different subjects in the B.A course, 11 subjects in the B.Com. course, 14 subjects under University Entrance Test, and the courses prescribed for certificate courses. Assignments sent by distance learners are corrected and returned with feedback by subject experts. Study materials are provided in four language and they can write exams in - English, Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati.

 

Study Centres - It has study centres in Maharashtra. Personal Contact Programmes are held in Mumbai, Pune and Dombivali.

 

Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit. The Centre conducts University Entrance Test in Arts and Commerce for those women who wish to get admission in SNDT's Arts and Commerce degree programs in Distance Education, but do not have the 10+2 (H.S.C) level certificates. A preparatory course is conducted by the Centre to prepare the students for the test. For admission there is no precondition except that the candidate should be minimum 18 years old. The test is different from H.S.C./S.S.C. or such other exams.

 

Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from University or Study Centre or Website. It is free of cost. Course fee is paid in form of demand draft in favour of CDE, SNDT Women’s University payable at Mumbai. Completed form after enclosing required documents and draft can be submitted to University or Study Centre. Last date for admission in various courses is 28th September 2012.
