DDCE, Sambalpur University is located in Burla, Sambalpur. It offers UG, PG and PG Diploma courses. Sambalpur University got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses. The Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education was started in the year 1998. In the year 2000 the DDCE launched BCA, PGDCA and PGDIT courses, in 2003 MCA, DCA and in 2006 MBA. Courses - University offers courses in Management (MBA), Computer Application (BCA & MCA) and PG Diploma ((1) Computer Applications, (2) Environmental Education & Management, (3) Industrial Chemistry, (4) Industrial Safety & Health, (5) Journalism & Mass Communication, (6) Library Automation & Networking, (7) Nutrition & Dietetics, (8) Remote Sensing & GIS, (9) Social Work & HRD, (10) Travel & Tourism Management and (11) Women Studies) through distance learning.
Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided study material, writing of response sheets, home assignments and arranging of personal contact programmes. The University will conduct the examination on completion of the course at Sambalpur University and other examination centres of Orissa subject to availability of minimum numbers of candidates as determined by the University. A Student has to attend at least 75% of the class hours for both Theory & Practical. A Student not attending the classes as per above requirement may not be allowed to appear for the examination.
Study Centres - Each candidate who has been enrolled by the University will be allotted to the selected Study Centers for theory and practical classes. The University will make all efforts to allot a Study Centre nearest to the place of present residence of the student, subject to availability of required minimum students at such study centre. DDCE has study centres in following cities - Angul, Atabira, Bolangir, Balasore, Bargarh, Barpali, Bhubaneswar, Belpahar, Bhadrak, Bhawanipatna, Bhedabahal, Birmaharajpur, Boinda, Brajarajnagar, Burla, Cuttack, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur Town, Jharsuguda, Kantabanji, Kuchinda, Padampur, Patnagarh, Puri, Rajgangpur, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Talcher and Tarbha.
Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit, If required the University may hold an entrance test in order to determine the merit of the Student for Admission. Application Procedure - The candidate may (1) fill online admission form which is available in DDCE website and after filling take its printout or (2) can download it and fill printout of the form. Completed form can be submitted to the study center of their choice along with supporting documents and bank drafts/ Journal. The last date of submission of admission forms by the study centers is 29th September 2012 without late fees and 15th October 2012 with a late fee of Rs.100.
Fees - All payments shall be made by the candidates in the form of Bank Draft in favour of the DDCE, Sambalpur University payable at SBI, Jyoti Vihar Branch (Code No. 6672). Candidates are advised to write their names, name of the course and enrollment number (if any) on the back side of the bank draft. The candidate may also deposit cash in the SBI Account No. 10526092854 of Jyoti Vihar SBI Branch code 6672 and deposit the deposit slip along with Journal No and Name of the Candidate on the back side of the deposit Slip. No Study Materials will be issued by the study centrers to candidates who do not pay their Fees within the specified dates. In case of cancellation of admission due to non payment of fees within due date, candidate may apply for re-admission.
