DDE, Sri Venkateswara University is located in Tirupati. DDE, SVU offers UG, PG and PG Diploma courses. S.V University got provisional recognition from DEC in 2007 - 08 for conducting distance education courses.

The Institute of Correspondence Course started in 1972 and was upgraded as the Directorate of Distance Education in 1994 as per the UGC norms.

Courses - University offers courses in M.Sc (Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology), M.A (Economics, English, Hindi, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology and Telugu), Commerce (B.Com & M.Com), PG Diploma (Adult & Continuing Education, Microfinanace & Livelihoods, Journalism, Guidance & counseling and Industrial Relations & Personnel Management) and Professional (B.ed, B.ed Third Methodology, B.Li.Sc, LLM, MBA, Executive MBA, MCA, MS Public Relations and MSW) through distance learning.

Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided study material, assignments and personal contact programmes. The DDE will organise 12 days contact programme classes. At the end of each academic year examinations will be conducted by the Controller of Examinations. SVU has introduced paper-wise pass system for all the courses of DDE from the academic year 2002-2003.

Study Centres - It has study centres in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Personal Contact Programmes and academic counseling are held in these centres.

Selection - Admission to courses are made through Merit and eligibility of candidate for that course. TC is not required for admission into any of the courses. The degrees awarded are equivalent to the degrees awarded to regular students of S.V.University. The DDE, S.V University offers B.A and B.Com courses under Open University System (without formal education). Admission under this system is open to all candidates. Applications are called for eligibility test which a candidate can write in English or Telugu medium. Under this system candidates should have completed 18 years of age and No pre-requisite educational qualification is required on the part of candidates. Eligibility Test is of SSC Standard.

Application Procedure - Application form can be obtained from DDE, S.V University or Study Centre or SBI, S.V.U. Campus. Candidates seeking admissions into this course have to pay fees through Demand Draft duly drawn in favour of "The Registrar, S.V.University, Tirupati", payable at State Bank of India/Andhra Bank, S.V.University Campus and send with their application form. On the reverse side of the bank draft - Name of the Student, Name of the Course and Purpose of payment ( Tution Fee/ Examination Fee etc.) should be written. Filled - in Applications should be sent along with the required enclosures to "The Director, Directorate of Distance Education, S.V.University, Tirupati - 517 502, Andhra Pradesh. Spot Admission are held on every Monday at D.D.E., S.V.University.
