School of Open learning is located in Delhi. School offers UG and PG courses in Arts and Commerce. Delhi University has DEC Programme-wise Regular Recognition from 2011-12 to 2013-14 for conducting its distance education courses. School of Open learning, University of Delhi was formerly known as Directorate of Correspondence Courses. It was established in 1962. The School enrolled more than 3,50,000 students in the Academic session (2011-2012). Courses - School of Open learning offers courses UG and PG through distance learning. Post graduate courses are in M.A (Hindi, History, Political Science and Sanskrit) and M.Com (Commerce). Under graduate courses are in B.A (pass), B.A (Hons) (English and Political Science), B.Com and B.Com (Hons). There is no differentiation in the course curriculum followed by School of Open learning and other constituent colleges and departments of the University of Delhi.
Methodology - Under Academic activities students are provided study material and contact programmes. The mode of instruction is primarily through well prepared printed course material which is distributed at the time of admission or by mail to all the enrolled students. Personal contact programmes are conducted at various study centres run by the School.
Examination - University of Delhi conducts examination and confers the degree to the students of the School as it does in the case of its other constituent colleges.
Selection - Admission to PG courses are made through Entrance Test. The admission process for various courses is governed by the norms established by University of Delhi.
Application Procedure - Application form and admission is finalized from School of Open learning, North (5 Cavalry lane) and South campus (South Moti Bagh), University of Delhi. Fees should be deposited with the Admission form through Bank Draft on SBI. A crossed Pay order / Bank Draft payable at Delhi drawn on SBI in favour of "The Executive Director, School of Open learning, University of Delhi, Payable at State Bank of India, Service Branch, New Delhi". For students residing outside Delhi the Bank Draft can be obtained from any nationalized bank. Centre for Professional and Technical Training - It was established under Campus of Open Learning to provide job oriented courses. University of Delhi in collaboration with Institutions has launched these short duration, vocational courses
Application Procedure for Vocational Courses - Students of all colleges or Departments of University of Delhi are eligible to apply for these courses. Students enrolled with the School of Open Learning (SOL) and Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB), University of Delhi, will be given preference. The brochure along with application form is available at Campus of Open Learning Centre, C-2, Keshav Puram, Delhi - 110 035. The students can also apply Online on http://col.du.ac.in and click on "Online Application". All eligible applicants will have to appear for a simple screening test and the decision of the University of Delhi will be final.
